Sister Organisations
Western Sahara Campaign UK does not work alone. And there are many brilliant organisations in the UK who campaign tirelessly for the rights of the Saharawi. Their work ranges from cultural to political, and includes charities and campaign groups. These organisations are: Adala UK, Olive Branch Arts, Sandblast Charity and Western Sahara Support Group, please read about them below:
Adala UK is a UK-based non-governmental organisation committed to the protection and promotion of human rights in Western Sahara. The organisation systematically collects and verifies testimonies and other forms of evidence documenting human rights violations perpetrated against the Saharawi people in the territories occupied by Morocco.
Olive Branch has been creatively engaging with the Sahrawi Community on the Refugee Camps in Algeria since 2010. We deliver annual creative arts training programmes, work creatively and therapeutically with elders in the Land Mine Centre and offer training and support to staff in the Special Needs Schools on the camps. Part of our focus is promoting and nurturing artists both here in the UK & on the camps to raise awareness of the Sahrawi plight through their chosen art form.
Founded in 2005, we are London-based and work in the UK and internationally, particularly in the Saharawi refugee camps in Algeria. Our mission is to put the Saharawi story on the map, build friendships and mobilise support for their cause.
Promoting the voices, culture and arts of the Saharawis is at the heart of our mission. We believe they must be the primary agents to express their aspirations and transform their future.
The Western Sahara Support Group is a charitable trust which aims to support projects in the Western Saharan refugee camps. The projects are inspired by the self-determined needs of the Sahrawi who will ultimately be responsible for delivering the outcomes. Our primary aim is to extend a hand of solidarity and friendship with a largely forgotten and dispossessed people.
